MTN WakaNet is a digital portal for Ugandan households and businesses to easily purchase and manage broadband services. The challenge was dual-sided: MTN needed to scale 5G and Fiber adoption, while customers needed a jargon-free way to choose and track their internet. I led the end-to-end redesign, focusing on creating a simplified, self-serve broadband ecosystem.
At the core was a frictionless onboarding journey allowing users to check coverage, select hardware, and book installations. I rethought how telecom sales flow online—translating complex coverage maps into simple lookups and turning technical bandwidth specs into everyday language. By adapting rigid enterprise infrastructure into a consumer-friendly interface, I made the ISP experience intuitive and mobile-first.
Navigating a complex enterprise timeline, I aligned engineering, marketing, and network operations to drive the digital sales strategy. My fingerprints are on every touchpoint, from the initial availability search to post-installation subscription management.
We shipped:
A unified broadband portal balancing robust telecom sales logic with effortless customer onboarding
Core features: Interactive Coverage Checker, Simplified Plan Comparison, Automated Installation Booking, and a Unified Data Dashboard
A shared UI system that integrates seamlessly into the broader MTN Uganda digital ecosystem
A mobile-first architecture allowing users to manage home Wi-Fi directly from their smartphones
A shift from physical store applications to digital self-service, reducing onboarding friction and call-center queues
MTN WakaNet pushed my consumer-tech thinking, grew me as a product strategist, and sharpened my design craft. I’m proud of what we shipped.
